Professional Philosophy Statement

I fundamentally believe that all individuals have a great potential inside of them. I feel that as professionals it is our job to help all of those around us reach this potential and become the best versions of themselves possible. The values and morals that I seek to portray in my daily life and through my work are equality for individuals regardless of ability, honesty and integrity, and the value of education in terms of continued growth throughout life.
As a disabled individual it is important that I along with other disabled individuals work to break down stereotypes and show that we can and will do good work. This is something that I am very passionate about. I seek to open doors for people regardless of ability and help my co-workers, students, friends, and family to see and value the abilities of all those around them. I hope to help other disabled young men and women look past their limitations and realize that they can achieve anything they want through hard work, determination, and innovation when necessary.
I believe strongly in the values of honesty and integrity. Throughout my life many mentors who I love and respect have expressed to me that all a man has is his word. This has left a long-lasting impression upon me. At every level of both my education and work I have worked to uphold these qualities and impart them upon those around me. Staying honest and maintaining a high level of integrity is in my estimation the only way to stay true to yourself, and to present the truest version of yourself to others. As I believe everyone should stay true to themselves and embrace their own strengths, these values guide and determine both my individual actions and my interactions with others on a daily basis.
Continued education and growth throughout life is another value that shapes my actions both as a person and as a professional. Truly and without question, the best way to improve one’s standing in life is through education. The path I have chosen to take in this life has illustrated my belief in this sentiment. My actions both as a student, and as an employee have been aimed at personal growth through education as well as helping others to view education as tool for their future. Education is something that can be used as a springboard to brighter days and better lives for all individuals. That is what makes it so important and powerful. The fact that it is a lifelong process means that it can change and shape the lives of anyone at anytime. At the point in my life I am not certain which way I want my career to go, but I can say without a doubt that I will be doing something in the field of education. I want share this passion with others and help them to view it as key to change that I do.

As a young professional my career has the potential to take many different forms and go down many different roads. No matter what happens in the future I will carry the philosophies outlined here with me both in my work and in my daily life. I will maintain my desire to seek equality for people of all abilities, continue to value and strive to embody both honesty and integrity, and finally I will continue to personally grow through education, while pushing others to understand and embrace its power. No matter what the coming years hold I will continue to work to better the lives of those around me through the use of not only these values, but also my knowledge and network base, which I will continue to build throughout my life and career. I hope to have a lasting impact on the individuals that I come in contact with, while building relationships that allow both myself, and those around me to be the best people that we can be.
